A view from Roger Farnsworth's "hale" (home) in Kailua-Kona, on Hawai`i Island (aka the Big Island of Hawai`i). Perched at the 700 ft. level, his home faces westward toward the Pacific Ocean, enabling cool tradewinds and incredible "kona sunsets." The home is surrounded by a manicured botanical garden. The lanai offers vistas of the South and North Kona Coast shoreline as well as activities on Holualoa and Kailua Bays.

Year round are cruise ships that frequent the tropical bay, and give the legendary town of Kailua a Mediterranean flair. Kailua-Kona is known for its sunny weather and Aloha hospitality. Hawai`i Island is considered the "cradle of Hawaiian history and culture," from which the Hawaiian Kingdom gets its name.
